Fashion Without Limits

(1st Semester Junior Year)

For this assignment we had to pick a plus size muse and design a cocktail dress out of the fabric provided to us.

Muse: My friend, Kaylee

She is one of my closest friends from high school. I picked Kaylee because we often find ourselves talking about clothes, and how we feel about specific garments. She expressed to me how limited the plus size section is and how it is the reason she doesn’t have the opportunity to be as selective as the rest of us. Kaylee and I touched on the topic of dresses and she explained that she rarely wears them because she doesn’t feel comfortable, which prevents her from feeling confident in a dress. I wanted to take on the challenge of creating something in which my friend would feel heard, included, and confident in. I stuck to her subtle girly style throughout the process and also styled the look with 2 small bubble braids within her hair, and ankle tied heels.
